Coraline

Henry Selick the genius who made the masterpiece 'A Nightmare Before Christmas' is back with an adaptation of Neil Gaiman children's tale, of a little girl who discovers an alternative reality of her life. It seems to have nicer parents and full of wonderful events, including giant circuses and stage shows in the same group of flats that she lives in, but the story has a Roald Dahl twist of be careful for what you wish for.

If the world was a better place then we would have stop motion films year in year out, it's a shame they take so damn long to make.

As of when these stop motion films are made they are still like nothing else made in animation that year.

Beautifully made, stop animation always puts the likes of others in the animation medium such as pixar to shame, and 'Coraline' is no exception.

With a witty clever script, weird and wonderful characters, Coraline may in the future not be as highly regarded as 'A Nightmare', it is still brilliantly created and highly recommended. Pixar's 'UP' may of drawn the crowds in and won all the awards, but Coraline is the true star, with enough imagination and invention to fill a dozen Pixar films and knock on the door to films a certain Tim Burton makes, look out for an array of great visual imaginary created. Example Coraline is sitting at a table talking to her second mother, the mother taps her button eye with a pin, Coraline gets angry and spins around still hearing the tapping and the mother character is gone, the tap is replaced with a running tap.

As a foot note 'Coraline' was one of the big 3D movies of 2009 and although the 3D is ok films of this do not need to be enchanted and works arguably better in the standard 2D. Best animated film of 2009.
