A character study rather than a fully rounded film as such. A great full English cast and strong performances pull the film though.
The story thread lacks any real drama or excitement, but the film is great at flexing its acting chops. John Hurt is especially grizzly and bad tempered, and Ian McShane is showing that he may of starting his film career late but is still a perfect character actor and sadly over looked.
The script is solid and also unpleasant, the film grabs its 18 certificate purely over the foul language.
Still and play visual set up of mostly using one location and great acting, is enough for its short running time and to see the best of British.
